Sensex Below 16K: aimed Volatility
At 14:25 hours IST - the 30-share BSE Sensex gained some strength amid volatility. Metal, realty, cement, telecom, auto and select power stocks were supporting the markets. HDFC Bank was the leader while GAIL, Siemens, ACC, Ranbaxy, ITC, TCS and BPCL were the other gainers.
Positive opening in European markets and recovery in Asian markets helped the markets to show some strength. Shanghai and Taiwan Weighted gained 1.1% each. Hang Seng was up 0.67% and Nikkei up 0.3%. However, Straits Times was down 0.2%. Among the European markets, CAC, DAX and FTSE went up 0.3-0.6%.
Heavyweight Reliance Industries was playing the main role in today's volatility.
However, selling in NTPC, SBI, ONGC, BHEL, L&T, Sun Pharma, HUL, Cipla and Tata Power capped the gains to major extent.
The Sensex was trading at 15999, down 44 points and the Nifty was at 4780, down 12 points.
